About the position
UTHealth Houston is seeking a Senior Director of Human Resources to lead the development and implementation of human resources strategies and initiatives that align with the organization's strategic objectives. This role is pivotal in guiding a team of HR Consultants who provide comprehensive support across various HR functions to meet the needs of our clinical and research enterprise. As a strategic and transformational leader, you will partner with senior clinical and research leaders, acting as a change agent to translate organizational strategies into effective HR operational plans. Your expertise in HR best practices, university policies, and applicable regulations will be essential in advising and supporting the organization's strategic goals. In this full-time, salaried, exempt position, you will work primarily onsite at the Texas Medical Center, with some travel to other locations across the greater Houston area. While this position is hybrid, remote work is allowed within the greater Houston vicinity. You will be responsible for collaborating with senior leaders, managers, and employees to drive HR processes and programs, including talent integration, employee development, employee relations, succession planning, performance management, retention, compensation planning, employee engagement, and policy administration. Additionally, you will monitor, measure, and report on HR initiatives, providing consultation and coaching to senior leadership to ensure fair and consistent treatment of employees. Your role will also involve establishing credibility throughout the organization, ensuring effective implementation and administration of HR programs, and collaborating with organizational leaders to strategize and execute initiatives that support business objectives. You will manage HR activities for direct reports, including recruiting, hiring, training, development, mentoring, counseling, performance evaluations, and salary planning. Furthermore, you will be responsible for designing and executing a system of internal controls to ensure operational effectiveness, asset safeguarding, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in a business or related field required; Master's Degree preferred.

- 7 years of experience in Human Resources with at least 3 years in one HR specialty function such as Employee Relations, Talent Acquisition, or Learning & Development required.

- Experience in human resources in a healthcare setting preferred.
,
- Proficiency in tools such as PeopleSoft and Microsoft 365, specifically Excel.
,
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
,
- Ability to establish positive relationships at all levels within an organization.
,
- Detail-oriented, versatile, and adaptable to changing environments.

- Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification from HRCI preferred.
